Join us in our effort to build leaders who influence positive change in public policy, systems, and the built environment in our local municipalities.

Partner universities agree to grant academic credit for the fulfillment of the field experience/practicum/internship requirements with the fellowship experience. Fellows are expected to work with university faculty or staff to ensure that their scope of work meets university expectations.

Before students’ applications are processed, candidates require the sponsorship of their university.

Students who are enrolled in graduate programs can only apply for the Randall Lewis Health & Policy Fellowship through participating universities.

Join us in our effort to build leaders who influence positive change in public policy, systems, and the built environment in our local municipalities.

This prestigious program is designed to ensure the development of future public health leaders who can make positive change and provide for the expansion of the regional health policy infrastructure and retain essential intellectual capital within Southern California.

Selected fellows will work with participating agencies or city leaders on population health initiatives.

The purpose of the Randall Lewis Health & Policy Fellowship is to create educational and professional opportunities that will influence positive change in public policy, systems, and the built environment.

The fellowship cohort runs from September until May.

Commitment Standards for Development

  • Provide a learning experience for students and enhancement for job placement
  • Improving the infrastructure for health and well-being in Southern California
  • Assist in Financial investment of the program
  • Provide a clear Scope of Work for the fellow project. 
  • Appoint an organization representative willing to mentor, invest time and develop a quality work project for each fellow
  • Willingness to participate in PBH Forum and scheduled activities throughout the year
  • Complete all required PBH forms in a timely manner, including but not limited to signing monthly  fellow timesheets and providing mid-year and year-end reviews
  • Provide appropriate access to information and resources that allow each Fellow to accomplish their work
  • Timely communication on personnel, operation, or policies that will affect the Fellowship experience at the Organization
  • On-site facilities, resources, and equipment necessary to complete on-site work for the OrganizationNetworking opportunities for fellows

Participating Cities & Regions & Government Organization

The following cities from Los Angeles County, Riverside County, and San Bernardino County are already participating in the fellowship program: Azusa, Banning, Chino, Claremont, Eastvale, Fontana, Glendale, High Desert Region, Jurupa Valley, Loma Linda, Los Angeles, Montclair, Murrieta, Ontario, Pasadena, Perris, Pomona, Rancho Cucamonga, Rialto, Rim Mountain Communities, Riverside, Santa Ana, San Bernardino, Snowline Communities, Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), Upland, and Yucaipa.
